What Is Carbon Black And Its Uses

Carbon black (also known as carbon black) is an amorphous carbon. Light, loose and extremely fine black powder, the specific surface area is very large, ranging from 10-3000m2 / g, is the organic matter (natural gas, heavy oil, fuel oil, etc.) under the condition of insufficient air by incomplete combustion or heat decomposition and obtained products. 

Carbon black is mainly used as a reinforcing agent and filler for rubber, and its consumption is about half of the consumption of rubber, and rubber carbon black accounts for 94% of the total carbon black, of which about 60% is used for tire manufacturing. In addition, carbon black is also used as a colorant for inks, coatings and plastics, as well as as ultraviolet shielding agents for plastic products. It is also an important additive in many other products, such as electrodes, dry batteries, resistors, explosives, cosmetics and polishing pastes. 

Here according to the use and use characteristics can be divided into three categories: rubber with carbon black, pigment carbon black and conductive carbon black. 

(1) Rubber carbon black such as tire industry, rubber seals, shock absorbers, etc., rubber products with a certain amount of carbon black can play a reinforcing and filling role to improve the performance of rubber products. 

(2) Pigment carbon black, mainly used as black pigment in ink, paint and other industries. 

(3) Conductive carbon black, using the low resistance or high resistance properties of some carbon black, so that it becomes conductive carbon black in different products, such as conductive rubber, radio components, etc.
